Our Doctors

He graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in 1992. After graduation, he worked with the Ministry Of Health for three years before going on to pursue his interest in Orthodontics.

In 1997, he obtained his Masters of Dental Science in Orthodontics (MDSc) at the University of Queensland in Australia. Upon his return to Singapore, he worked with the Department of Orthodontics at National Dental Centre where he also served as a clinical supervisor in the postgraduate orthodontic residency programme. He was inducted into the Academy of Medicine Singapore and obtained his Fellowship with the Academy (FAMS) in 2001. Dr Poon is a member of the Association of Orthodontists, Singapore and has served as its Treasurer and Assistant Honorary Secretary.

In 2002, Dr Poon started his private practice. As one of the first orthodontists to use the Damon bracket system in Singapore, Dr Poon has vast experience and particular interest in using the Damon system as well as Anchorage Devices (mini-implants) to enhance treatment results. Today he still derives great satisfaction in finding ways and techniques to achieve the best smiles for his patients while ensuring their comfort. Currently, Dr Poon continues to serve as Clinical Lecturer at the Faculty of Dentistry, National University of Singapore.

Dr Poon believes in the importance of public education, and was recently invited to talk about orthodontics on a MediaCorp health program called "Let's Talk About Health" and "Doctor, Can You Tell Me Why?".

Dr Poon feels grateful that over the years, many of his patients and their families have come to regard him as their trusted doctor and friend. Besides orthodontics, Dr Poon also loves to travel all over the world in search of good cuisine, a passion he shares with his wife. Their shared commitment to God’s work has also brought them to several parts of the world, an experience that has been both rewarding and humbling.
